Tulips nipple shields are suitable for short term use to assist latch-on and to protect sore nipples while breastfeeding.
The special tulip shape has been developed to allow direct sensory contact between mother and baby whilst the ultra thin, flexible silicone ensures a natural feel and a perfect fit.
Please note that these nipple shields should only be used short term. During a feed however, should you experience any difficulties, please contact a breastfeeding counsellor or a lactation consultant.
Using the nipple shields:
1. Moisten the inside of the nipple shield with either a little breast milk, water or lanolin nipple cream, so that it adheres more easily to the breast. Gently pull back the edges of the nipple shield and centre it over the nipple so that the tulip shape is at the top. This allows the baby's nose to make contact with the mother’s skin.
2. Release the edges onto the breast.
Further Information:
Only wear the nipple shield during a feed, remove them after use and clean them according to instructions. If a nipple shield shows signs of becoming brittle, it should be replaced.
Keep nipple shields and PE plastic bag out of the reach of children.
Cleaning / Sterilisation:
Before first use, boil the nipple shields in water for ten minutes and then once a day. After each use, wash in soapy water, rinse clean and wrap in a clean towel to dry. Nipple shields are suitable for use in dishwashers. Autoclave sterilisation: 121°C = 20 min / 134°C = 18 min and thermic disinfection 93°C = 10 min.
